Pilot or Passenger II - How Real Estate Agents Can Differentiate: The Sequel
A couple of weeks ago, in the first post of my Pilot or Passenger blog series, I wrote about how real estate agents can differentiate themselves (differently). I suggested that everyone has their own unique gift—something that no other competitor could ever truly copy.
Alright real estate agents, let’s get to the bottom of this. Subject lines can be one of the most frustrating components of your real estate email marketing.
As I’ve mentioned before, we are very fortunate to have thousands of email subscribers, which gives us the opportunity to test, track, and analyze a lot of different elements to determine what makes a solid email marketing campaign.
Recently, I was asked a great question: How can something (like an email subject line) possibly be short, compelling, funny, and eye-catching all at the same time? I know. It doesn’t make much sense.
As I asked some of our customers about the best subject lines they’re using in Realvolve, I got even more pressing questions:
- Are shorter subject lines better?
- How many words should I have in my subject line to get more opens?
- Does subject line length even matter?
I find that the answers to those questions live in the data and tracking tools you’re using to determine what’s working and what’s not.
In this post, I’ll walk you through how I collected and analyzed data to determine the ideal word count for writing subject lines that will earn you more opens and better engagement (clicks).
I'm sure you've been there before...
Sitting at your computer or laptop...
Writing up the simplest email... which can sometimes take as long as 5-10 minutes—especially if you’re a perfectionist.
Not only do you have to figure out the right way to phrase your message so it makes sense to the client/vendor/agent/etc., but you also have to proofread for things like typos, weird formatting, and misplaced punctuation.
And it's never just one email; you might send dozens of emails in a single day. And all of those little 5-minute tasks really start to add up.
“The day is lost in 5-minute chunks.”
- Kendyl Young, owner/broker, DIGGS
When Kendyl Young, owner and broker at DIGGS, started using Realvolve several years ago, she made an incredible discovery.
She added up all of the emails, text messages, and social media posts she put out each month...and realized she was saving 200 hours each year (or 16 hours a month) by automating those tasks using templates and workflows.
Are you losing your day to 5-minute tasks? Read on to learn how templates will greatly reduce the amount of time you spend on emails, text messages, and social media posts.
You've probably noticed this by now (it is almost 2018, after all), but much of real estate has gone digital.
It's no secret that 80% of homebuyers conduct internet research when considering homes to buy, and 89% use the internet to find real estate agents.
These days, documents can be signed virtually, homes can be viewed by video (and, in some cases, through virtual reality), and Realtors are expected to be online where their buyers are.
So where should you begin with your real estate lead conversion? Online, of course. I believe you need to start with a strong email marketing strategy. In this digital age, the formal, impersonal letters no longer do the trick. The fastest way to modernize your outreach is to implement anticipated, relevant, timely, personalized email campaigns.
To help you get a jump start on 2018, here are 10 real estate email templates (laid out in our real estate CRM) that will bring your communication into the digital age, for digital buyers. (We've also added character to the subject lines for maximum open and click through rates!)
Update: We've created an ebook, get it now!
Here at Realvolve, we send a lot of emails. And I always get excited during the holiday season, spring break, or yearly holidays because this is when I start to see a lot of great (and not so great) out-of-office messages from real estate agents.
If you're a 24/7 agent, you don't have a lot of time to get creative. But if you plan ahead, you can craft some awesome messages that will leave a lasting impression on your contacts.
I have a lot of out-of-office messages in my vault, and I'd like to share a few of my favorites with you. Some are my personal go-to messages, some were designed for colleagues, and some I simply created in a pinch. Check out these 5 emails, and use these ideas to create your own out-of-office messages for your next vacation!
I'll be transparent here—we send a lot of emails at Realvolve. And every single email is purposeful and sprinkled with a bit of passion. Why? Because we are able to plan, track, and evaluate the effectiveness of our email marketing campaigns with something as simple as an Excel spreadsheet...
